Meet The Team
Dr. Spiros Kavalieratos
Sandton Family & Cosmetic Dentist
My first dental experience took place at the age of four. A guava pip lodged itself in a cavity in one of my baby molars and my dentist extracted my tooth. He gave me a toothpaste sample and a balloon and that experience molded my destiny. I wanted to become a dentist from that day onward. At age eight I wore a removable orthodontic appliance and that was when I realized that I wasn't normal. Everyone hated going to the dentist. I used to beg my parents to take me there! It was difficult to gain acceptance into a South African Dental School, as I was a foreign student and places were limited for us. I therefore took a circuitous route , which took me through a few extra years studying dental technology and qualifying first as a dental technician at Technikon Pretoria. This has given me a unique perspective and training that has proved invaluable in my dental career.Whilst completing my one year practical training as a dental technician trainee at the University of Stellenbosch I was privileged to meet many dental students and dentists. This made me more determined than ever to persevere and to reapply to the School of Dentistry at the University of the Witwatersrand. My application was accepted and that was the beginning of the realization of my dream.I feel honored and privileged in being able to serve you. It's not about changing your smile, but about changing your life and well-being. By changing your attitude and behavior towards your oral and dental needs I can be a positive influence in your life. It is only through the power of regular contact and association with first class mentors and colleagues and hours and hours of continuing education, that I continually strive for truth and excellence in my daily practice. It is through the desire to continually learn and grow, to be teachable, have an inquiring mind and passion to discover the truths and then to deliver this package that I have kept my dream alive and love my life and dentistry. It is with this background that you come to me and can feel confident that your best interests will always come first in my quest to serve you.Mission StatementTo strive for excellence in educating, communicating, informing and performing the science and art of dentistry. To nurture the young into becoming compliant adult patients with beautiful healthy smiles. To educate and help them manage their dental fears and insecurities and guide them through their journey from childhood into maturity as happy dental patients.

Hello Dr Spiros Just a quick note to tell you again how much appreciated your care and attention to my problem was. I would have to go very far to find a finer and more caring doctor if ever to be found! I will be visiting Dr G in Cape Town on Wednesday to finalise the issue. Most important I am out of pain and all wrinkles have returned to the right side of my face. Once again, many many thanks. Best regards

Hi Dr Kavalieratos Having healthy gums and teeth is something that we all take for granted. It's only when things go wrong that we search for alternatives. I have had the experience of rehabilitating my own mouth over the last few years and it is only the result of excellent Dentists and Surgeons, as well as up to date technology like Dental Implants that I feel like I have got a second chance of enjoying the benefits of a healthy mouth. A dental implant is like having a new tooth in your mouth. It's impossible to tell the difference between an implant and a real tooth. Multiple implants is also a possibility. Nothing seems impossible these days - some personal research is beneficial in order to gain more practical understanding of Dental Implants. It's worth all the preparation, planning, surgery and cost. Just make sure you pick the right dental team. Thanks to Dr AA, Dr SK, Dr MS Kind regards
